History : Septimius Severus was a great general and an even more powerful Emperor. He defeated Rome’s long time enemy, the Parthians, in Mesopotamia in 197 AD. He traveled to Britain to defeat the northern barbarians and he died in York in 211 AD. He restored power and stability to Rome that did not last beyond his lifetime.
